Rochester, N.Y. - "If it was time for the second ark, I missed the call."

This was certainly not how homeowner Mike Otto wanted to spend his Sunday.

"I was expecting I was going to sit out and enjoy this summer weather,” Otto said.

Instead he got a basement full of water.

"Came downstairs and opened the basement door and it was not a pretty sight,” said Otto.

Otto describes a room filled with at least 13 inches of water, soaking everything in its path.

Only a couple of cat litter boxes were found floating on top of the water.

"I had a costume made shade for a lamp, totally toast, that's gone,” Otto said.

It's an ugly job Otto say's he not going to do, at least for now.

"I'm going to ignore this for a day, the wife is out of town, so no nagging,” Otto said.

Otto’s neighbors, Dennis Foley and Terry, wasted no time cleaning.

"Just trying to dry out with fans and the dehumidifier and slowly just kind of wipe up the floor and mop up the floors,” Foley said.

For them the heavy rain came at the worst time.

"We're in the middle of a kitchen renovation so there are boxes everywhere,” Foley said.

The water that drained out as quickly as it poured in will take more time to clean.

"Longer than I want to spend,” said Otto.
