Rochester, N.Y. – Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard will give his six-month update on city crime Friday morning.
The city has seen a spike in deadly crimes this summer, with 22 homicides recorded in just over half a year.
Many city residents and businesses owners have also complained about the open drug dealing and loitering in their area. Chief Sheppard says people have the right to be outside as long as they are not doing anything illegal.
To continue efforts to reduce violent crimes, RPD’s “Operation Cool Down” will continue for its second week. Chief Sheppard says the stepped up enforcement initiative will remain in effect for the time being.
