Rochester, N.Y. – A Rochester Police Officer fired his gun at a man during a foot chase Saturday afternoon.

Lieutenant Jeff Koehn said the officer discharged his weapon because it appeared someone might have pointed a gun at the officer.

The chase happened near Huntington Park around 3 p.m.

Police responded to reports of a big fight near Avenue B and St. Paul Street. There was also a report of a man armed with a gun.

Shortly after arriving on scene, officers engaged in a foot chase. During that chase, an officer fired his gun after believing one of the men he was chasing had pointed a gun at him.

No one was hurt in the shooting. Police said they are talking to several people of interest in the investigation.
