Rochester, N.Y. – Due to Thursday’s winter storm, the volume of calls at Monroe County’s 911 center have increased significantly, according to Monroe County 911 Center Supervisor Steve Cuzens.

Calls for accidents and disabled vehicles have been the most common. There is no exact information on the number of accidents at this time.

Currently, exits 41 to 48 on the Thruway are under a snow and ice advisory.

According to New York State Thruway Authority Public Information Officer Richard Keane, the portion of the Thruway between Henrietta and Batavia is in good shape.

Keane says the amount of slush varies, but that the Thruway is very wet.

10 plows will be continuously plowing between Henrietta and Batavia through the evening, according to Keane.

The City of Rochester is advising drivers to strictly observe alternate, side and other posted parking regulations to facilitate snow and clean up efforts.

Additionally, Hamlin Town Supervisor Thomas Breslawski warns residents that there should be no unnecessary travel due to the slick road conditions.
