Henrietta, N.Y. — Slippery roads made for a tough ride home for many Friday evening commuters; but it wasn’t as bad for the season’s first bit of snowfall accumulation.

“We saw a fire truck helping people,” said Shannon Maker of Albany. “Other than that it was clear.” Maker and her friend traveled from Albany to Clarence with two babies.

Several cars were off the Thruway between Victor and Henrietta as of 7 p.m.

Henrietta received approximately a half inch of snow as of 8 p.m.

“It’s very scary,” said Trish Hawthorne. “I don’t like driving in the snow at all.”

Monroe County 911 Center reported a handful of scattered accidents countywide, but could not give an estimated call volume.

Ontario County fielded 17 calls related to motor vehicle accidents from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In Genesee County there were approximately 6-10 vehicle accident calls during the same span, according to a dispatcher.
