Albany, N.Y.—A bill designed to protect students from online bullies will become state law next year.

Governor Cuomo signed a “Cyber-Bullying” bill Monday.

The bill requires schools to establish response plans and involve staff to investigate complaints.

The law takes effect next July.

There is already a cyber-bullying law on the books in Monroe County.

It levies a thousand-dollar fine or a year in jail on those convicted of cyber-bullying.
