Bristol, N.Y. – Three young children were rescued Thursday after a car plunged into a pond with all three inside.
According to sheriff's deputies, Sherrie Anderson of Canandaigua drove to the Ontario County pond with her five children.
When it started to rain, the three youngest, ages 2, 4 and 5, climbed into the car while the two teen girls rowed in the pond.
Deputies say the 5-year-old found the keys in the cupholder in the vehicle and switched it into neutral, which sent the van rolling into the pond.
Anderson and her two teen girls swam to the van and rescued the children inside before it sank.
Divers recovered the van -- and all of the children are okay.
