Rochester, N.Y. – Friends of 73-year-old Edline Chun continue to look for answers.
“It's been a nightmare for myself, for my husband, for our family, for all of the friends,” said Victoria Visiko. “It feels like you can't wake up from it.”
Visiko met Chun over 10 years ago when Chun, a Hawaiian native, visited Visiko’s business, Gallery Kaua'i, Hawaiian Performing Arts & Recording Studios, in Pittsford.
Visiko is now determined to keep Chun’s, the friend she knew as “Auntie Eddie”, memory alive.
“We are doing a memorial for her that will absolutely help because it will bring people together that loved her,” said Visiko, “and who still love her and will always love her.”
Chun was found dead in Tryon Park by a Monroe County maintenance worker on February 6.
The RIT professor had been shot, but not at the park, according to police.
Police wouldn't say where she was killed, but they've been focusing on Chun's home on Hazelwood Terrace in Rochester, just blocks away from the park.
Police believe Chun was the victim of robbery, and while it doesn't appear she knew the person in custody, it's believed she was targeted.
As those who knew Chun wait for answers, they plan on giving her a proper send off with a Hawaiian Cultural Memorial Celebration on March 2nd.
