Rochester, N.Y. - Union workers at the University of Rochester plan to picket on campus starting tomorrow.
Contract negotiations between the university and its service employees' union are on hold until at least Monday.
The union represents about 1,800 University of Rochester employees, including workers at Strong Memorial Hospital.
Some of the workers are planning informational picketing on the campus Friday, which means they will be carrying signs on their breaks, not actually striking.
At the center of this labor dispute -- health benefit changes.
The U of R released a statement today saying they are "committed to offering a compensation package that is highly competitive," and "not seeking to reduce pay or elminate benefits."
The university statement went on to say that the proposed change would help better control costs for health care coverage.
