Henrietta, N.Y. – Video game experts from around the world gathered in the Rochester area this weekend for the fourth annual International Consumer Electronics Society Games Innovation Conference at The Strong and Rochester Institute of Technology.

The event discussed the state of the video game industry. Science-fiction authors Cory Doctorow and Charles Stross discussed their book “The Rapture of the Nerds,” which tells the story of a bizarre future world.

"Charlie sent me a chunk of about 1,000 words of the silliest, strangest science-fiction I'd ever read and sort of challenged me with it,” Doctorow said. “I wrote the 1,000 craziest words I could think of to add to it."

"A work of fiction like this almost starts off like a game of table tennis with bits and pieces of prose to see what you can do with it," Stross said.

The conference began Friday and ended Sunday.
