A winter weather advisory is in effect for Livingston, Ontario, Yates and Wyoming Counties through 6am Wednesday morning. The winter storm watch is no longer in effect.

A storm system will create a sloppy wintry mix overnight in WNY. For areas north of the Thruway the precipitation will fall as rain initially, but mix with wet snow and sleet overnight.

Weather conditions will deteriorate tonight as temperatures drop to near freezing in Rochester. The mix will change to wet snow for most areas by sunrise Wednesday morning, especially south of Rochester. It appears that many areas will find several inches of sloppy wet snow accumulation with up to 3-6” of snow in the highest elevations of Livingston, Ontario, and Wyoming Counties. Closer to Lake Ontario the changeover to snow may take longer.

Wednesday will be cloudy with wet snow continuing. Several additional inches of wet snow will be possible. Some pockets of rain or sleet will mix with snow south of Rochester. The high will be in the upper 30s.

Slightly colder air will return late this week with occasional snow showers Wednesday night, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday's high will be in the mid or upper 30s.
