Webster, N.Y. - "This sure beats shoveling, I tell you that," Webster resident Howard Beck said.

Beck is one of many residents digging out from the 10 plus inches of snow mother nature dumped on the Rochester area overnight Thursday.

"Oh a little rough, but my snow blower started right away, so that made things a little easier," Beck said. "I've only been out here only 20 minutes or so."

"The biggest thing was digging out the garbage cans and making sure I had those out in time before the garbage men came," Webster resident Megan Rizzo told 13WHAM News.

Rizzo says she was fortunate to have good neighbors help her plow her driveway, but she still had a heap of snow to clean off the car.

"I got to dig around the car and that's a lot of work," Rizzo said.

But what was a pain for some, was a blast for many.

Dozens of people young and old went to Webster Park for a day of fun; sledding.

"It's so much fun gliding down it almost feels like you're flying," said Isabelle Ormond who enjoyed a day of sledding.

"I'm having fun but my face is getting a little cold," said one sledder.

For Lynne Cavanagh, the day was about nostalgia.

"It reminds you of the playfulness of the fun growing up, Cavanagh said. "It's an enjoyable way to spend the afternoon. Maybe burn off some of a few of those Christmas cookies."
