Italy, N.Y. - Three hikers were rescued Thursday night after getting lost in Yates County.

They were in Clark's Gully in the Town of Italy, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Department.

The hikers, Cameron Prophet, 25; Cirina Guerra, 23 and Elissa Mancine, 20--are all from Canandaigua.

They started hiking at 5 p.m.

They went off the main trail when it got dark, and eventually lost their footing and tumbled into the gully.

They used a cell to call for help.

Fire crews hiked up the steep terrain with rescue equipment, and from there used ropes to pull the three to safety.

The three suffered only minor scrapes and bruises.

It was all over by 10 o'clock.
