Lake Placid, N.Y. (AP) - The second phase of an improvement project for the main road between Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain in the Adirondacks is set to begin.
The state Department of Transportation says crews will begin paving work Monday along more than 12 miles of Route 86 between the village of Lake Placid and Wilmington in Essex County.
One lane will be closed with flaggers directing traffic. DOT officials say motorists should expect some travel delays and should seek alternate routes when possible.
This is the project's second phase. The first phase started in late July and involved recycling the existing asphalt.
Work is expected to be completed by mid-September
