Lockport, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say they've identified the body found in the Erie Canal as a 47-year-old local man who had no permanent address.
Police in Lockport in Niagara County said that on Wednesday they identified the body as that of Lawrence Pichey.
An autopsy conducted by the medical examiner's office in neighboring Erie County determined his death was a suicide.
Authorities say passengers on a canal tour boat spotted his fully clothed body early Tuesday afternoon near the Lockport locks.
