Washington, D.C. - As Congress prepares to debate gun control there is growing support for one specific measure.

President Obama says there are too many loopholes allowing individuals to purchase weapons at gun shows without background checks.

A new task force led by Vice President Biden will focus with taking steps to avoid future incidents like last week's shootings in Connecticut.

Republicans have been hesitant to endorse new gun bans but more GOP leaders are coming around on the background check proposal.

“I happen to think that the mayor [Bloomberg] is onto something significant--background checks...” said former Director of Homeland Security Tom Ridge.

Five more victims of the Newtown shootings will be mourned at funerals today.
