(13WHAM-TV) - A deal has been reached to prevent a possible doubling of milk prices in January.

Leaders in both parties in the House and Senate agreed to a one-year extension of the 2008 farm bill.

Without the extension, the price of milk could jump to more than $7 a gallon.

The House now must vote on the bill.
