Rochester, N.Y. – The woman accused of supplying the weapons used in a deadly Christmas Eve attack on Webster firefighter pleaded not guilty to a three-count indictment in federal court Monday.

Dawn Nguyen, 24, has been indicted on federal charges including making a false statement, firearms possession and selling firearms to a felon. She is accused of lying on a form when she bought a rifle and a shotgun for felon William Spengler, Jr. Spengler shot and killed two firefighters from West Webster, and injured two others early on the morning of Christmas Eve before turning a gun on himself.

At Monday’s court appearance, federal prosecutors stated that they intend to use a statement given by Nguyen on December 24. In it, she said she purchased the guns used in the attack, but that they were stolen from her.

Nguyen’s attorney, Matt Parinello, stated that he does not believe his client can get a fair trial in the community.

If convicted, Nguyen faces up to 30 years in prison.
