As much as a foot of snow is expected in parts of the Midwest Thursday.

Wisconsin's governor has already declared a state of emergency.

That weather is threatening to cause delays at Chicago's O’Hare International Airport ahead of the holiday weekend.

The Rochester area could see part of that storm coming into town this weekend.

According to 13WHAM Meteorologist Mark McLean, a winter weather advisory has been issued for Rochester and most of Western New York from 7pm Friday through 7pm Saturday.

Travel may be difficult during that time.

There is also a winter storm warning for Wyoming County from late Friday morning through Saturday night. Snow amounts may reach or exceed 8 inches during that time.

The cold in the U.S.A. is apparently nothing when compared to what parts of Europe are getting. More than 70 people have died from frostbite in Russia and Ukraine where temperatures have stayed around 20 below zero.
