Corning, N.Y. - Two men were critically injured in a home explosion at 48 Wilson Street in the City of Corning Friday morning.

Steuben County Emergency Services Acting Director James Marshall says it isn't clear if the fire or explosion happened first at the house near Corning's downtown.

It was reported just after 11 a.m.  City police and fire officials say crews are still on the scene

Investigators say an elderly man and his grandson were working on a hot water tank when the explosion happened.

At least 20 homes don't have gas or electric service right now.
