CLAY, N.Y. (AP/WHAM) - Federal court records show a Syracuse man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl and fatally stabbing her mother after carjacking them was previously charged with having child pornography featuring young girls.
FBI agents said they found the images on computers at the suburban Syracuse apartment of 29-year-old David Renz last year.
State police say Renz attacked a school librarian, 47-year-old Lori Bresnahan, and a 10-year-old girl at a mall in the Syracuse suburb of Clay at about 9 p.m. Thursday.
The girl managed to escape and is hospitalized.
Renz, of Cicero, has been charged with murder, rape and kidnapping. His lawyer in the federal case didn't initially return a call seeking comment.
