Albany, N.Y. - A state bill signed into law yesterday hopes to increase the number of registered organ and tissue donors.
It adds a new section to the New York Department of Motor Vehicles application documents that asks if you would like to be added to the “Donate Life” registry.
About 9,700 New Yorkers are on waiting lists for organ transplants.
The new law takes effect in a year.
