Brighton, N.Y. - Students at MCC have a new tool --"Career Coach" is an online program which informs students as they make career choices.Students can select an occupation; find out what education is required, and how much money they can make.
“The more awareness, the more likely we are to produce enrollments and ultimately we can produce the workers for the region for businesses,” said MCC Vice President Todd Oldham.
The program helps address the growing mismatch between job openings and job seekers.
“In the economy we’re in, there’s a lot of things that are different. Case in point, 50% of New York jobs are middle-skill oriented. We feel that’s a piece of information that should be considered when they figure out where they want to be, what’s in it for them and what does that look like when they look down that road,” said Oldham.
