The Rochester Red Wings lost for the second time in three days since the All Star break, falling 7-1 to the Syracuse Chiefs Saturday night.
The Chiefs jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the second on a rally started by a deep triple from Corey Brown. He came in to score on an RBI groundout by Chris Marrero.
The Chiefs extended the lead to 3-0 until the fifth, when Oswaldo Arcia jumped all over a pitch from Yunesky Maya, hitting it out of the ballpark for a solo homerun, his 7th of the year, cutting the deficit to 3-1.
But Syracuse answered immediately. With a full count and two outs in the bottom of the fifth, Zach Walters took Liam Hendricks deep and out for a two run homerun. The Chiefs would add two more to help seal the victory.
Liam Hendricks dropped to 2-7 with the loss, going 5.1 innings, allowing seven runs on ten hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Rochester's record stands at 52-50 after the game.
