Allmendinger arrested for DWI

NASCAR driver AJ Allmendinger was arrested Thursday morning and charged with drunken driving.

Allmendinger's blood-alcohol content was .08 when he was stopped by police. He was released from custody just before 4 a.m. (et).

The No. 44 driver for Richard Petty Motorsports, Allmendinger missed the Chase for the Sprint Cup and is currently 25th in the points standings. He has yet to win a race in his three years in the Sprint Cup Series.
