Isles D Martinek tears ACL, out remainder of season

New York Islanders defenseman Radek Martinek will be out of action the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Martinek suffered the injury during the third period of Friday's 2-1 loss at New Jersey after being hit hard along the boards.

The 33-year-old Martinek had two goals and an assist in 16 games this season. He compiled six goals and four assists in 51 contests during the 2008-09 campaign.

Isles captain Doug Weight is also expected out for a week due to an upper-body injury.
