Brooklyn, NY (Sports Network) - The Brooklyn Nets waived forward Josh Childress on Saturday.

Childress signed with the Nets as a free agent on Sep. 13 and appeared in 14 games for the team this season, averaging 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in just over seven minutes per game.

Selected sixth overall by Atlanta in the 2004 draft, the Stanford product has started 70 of his 387 career NBA games with the Nets, Hawks (2004-2008) and Suns (2010-12).

In between his stops with Atlanta and Phoenix, Childress played two seasons with Olympiacos Piraeus, a Greek professional club. He averaged 12.4 points and 4.7 rebounds overseas.
