Medley Centre developer meets with local leaders

Irondequoit, N.Y. Scott Congel is in town to talk about his lifeless Medley Centre project Irondequoit.

Thursday, he met with Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks and Irondequoit Town Supervisor Mary Joyce DAurizio among others.

DAurizio says Congel expressed confidence in his ability to complete the project, for which he received a 30-year tax agreement.

Were all supportive of that project moving forward, DAurizio said.

But DAurizio says everyone in the meeting acknowledged Congel missed the deadline to show he has invested $165 million in the project.

She says that issue will be the main topic at Fridays meeting, which will include representatives from COMIDA and the East Irondequoit School District.

After Congel left Thursdays meeting, 13WHAM tracked him down to ask him questions.

All I can say right now is right now we're here to give an update and they'll be more answers to come, Congel said.

DAurizio said she secured a promise from Congel Thursday to tear down 3 abandoned buildings around Medley.
