Officer involved shooting in city
Rochester, N.Y. A man is at Strong Memorial Hospital Sunday evening recovering after being shot by a Rochester police officer.
Rochester Police Department Chief James Sheppard tells 13WHAM News that around 8 p.m., police approached two suspicious men near a convenience store on the corner of Bay Street and Portland Ave., at which time the suspects ran after police discovered one of them was armed.
The men ran behind the David F Gantt Community Center. At the time, an officer shot one suspect.
The wounded suspect is at Strong Memorial Hospital with what police call non-life-threatening injuries. The other suspect is in police custody.
No names have been released at this time.
The officer who fired their weapon will be put on administrative duties as the investigation continues a normal police procedure.
