Robert Wiesner back in court

Rochester, N.Y. No ruling from a judge yet on whether the case against Robert Wiesner, the husband of Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, should move forward.

Wiesner is one of four people charges in an alleged bid-rigging scheme involving the countys local developmental corporations.

The attorney generals office agreed to drop the charges but wants the right to present the evidence to a new grand jury.

Wiesners lawyer claims this is a political prosecution and he wants the attorney general to turn over all emails and text messages to prove that.

My argument is what could be more serious than a prosecutors office using their unlimited resources and funds to bring to bear changes against a citizen of this community for nothing more than a political purpose, says James Nobles, Wiesners lawyer. Im afraid thats the only conclusion that can be drawn here at this point.

The judge will issue a decision next month.
