No heat in the bitter cold

ROCHESTER, N.Y. Heating companies told 13WHAM theyve been working around the clock to resolve peoples heating issues inside their home, including Sandra Anderson.

Its been two days and its been horrible, she said. You can see your breath in the house. Its cold.

To compensate for not having heat for a couple days, Anderson has been using everyday items like a space heater to keep warm.

Shes also had to wear at least four layers inside her home, and even wore a coat to sleep.

If it was in the 30s or 40s, not too bad, Anderson said. Im afraid the pipes might freeze. I came downstairs this morning and there was no water in the kitchen running.

It seems like one problem after the other for Anderson, who said she couldnt have lost heat at a worse time. She just lost her brother a week ago.

Were already going through a lot right now, and for this to happen, its just terrible, she said. Its bad."

Her service technician is with Universal Heating and said theyve seen many cases like Andersons, especially during this bitter cold week.

Theyre really concerned, you know, said Russell Lee, Universal Heating Service Technician. They want you there right away, and we expedite calls as best as we can when we get them.

Universal Heating was only able to do a temporary fix for Anderson. Lee said shell have to replace her furnace with a new one soon.
