Victor daycare worker pleads guilty to sex abuse

Canandaigua, N.Y. - On Monday a Farmington man accused of having sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl plead guilty to two charges of sexual abuse for sexual contact he had with two children.

43-year-old Sean Smith was arrested in October of 2013 and charged with first-degree sexual abuse.

The alleged incident happened at Jack and Jill Child Care in Victor, where Smith worked for 6 years before his arrest.

On Monday, Smith admitted to Judge Craig Doran that he did have sexual contact with two girls younger than 11-years-old in exchange for a plea deal.  Both crimes occurred on the same day, October 28, 2013.

Judge Doran explained that the plea deal involves 5 years in prison, 10 years parole, and required sex offender registration.  Orders of protection prohibiting Smith from ever contacting the victims or their families were also signed in court.

Families of the victims were also in court but declined to comment after.

Smith's lawyer also declined comment.

Sentencing will be held March 19 at 10 a.m.

Smith will remain in county jail until then.
