Thousands lose power in Northeast

Philadelphia (AP) -- Hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses are without power after ice and snow brought down trees and limbs in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Wednesday.

Some 750,000 customers lost electricity in Pennsylvania, mostly in the Philadelphia suburbs.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie declared a state of emergency, and tens of thousands of customers lost power in the state.

Although wintry weather forced the cancellation of some 2,900 flights, fewer cancellations are expected for Thursday.
