Wease offers support for Kelly
Rochester, N.Y. -- One of the most well-known voices of Rochester sent well wishes to Buffalo Bills legend Jim Kelly.
Radio host Brother Wease also fought cancer in the head and neck in 2005.
After hearing the former quarterback's jaw cancer had returned, Brother Wease said he felt compelled to reach out.
"He's checking out all his opportunities and taking the advice of doctors he is working with, and he thinks he's in the best hands," said Brother Wease. "And you know, 'How am I doing?' That's the kind of guy he is," said Brother Wease.
Also similar to Kelly, Brother Wease underwent treatment in New York City. Kelly will soon begin chemotherapy, radiation and potentially surgery.
"I think the radiation, which is tough, won't be tough for Jim Kelly," said Brother Wease. "Jim Kelly, sincerely, is a tough, tough man. So if I can do it, Jim Kelly will breeze through it. He's going to beat it."
Brother Wease asked people to think and send positive thoughts to "Brother Jim" and described him as a strong, strong guy. He said the Kellys are also asking for prayers.
Brother Wease is now cancer free and said that will also come true for Jim Kelly.
"If Sissy Wease can go through and get through it, it'll be a breeze for him," he said.
