Hague Street Resident: Feels Like A War Zone
Rochester, N.Y. -- Sounds of gunfire resulted in four people being injured and complete chaos throughout Hague Street, Friday afternoon.
At about 3:15 p.m., Rochester Police were called to the area of 415-419 Hague Street after the report of a shooting. Two shooting victims were found outside. One victim was a woman who was shot in the shoulder, and the other victim was a man who was hit in the leg, according to Rochester Police Captain Ray Dearcop. A woman was also found inside of a residence with a gunshot wound to her groin.
All were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with what are being called non-life-threatening injuries.
"It registered as shots, but I'm saying no, it's too bright in the day," said Gregory Brandon, who has lived in the neighborhood for more than forty years. "Kids are out playing, but it sounds so close."
His children were safe, but he's already grown tired of violence in this area. Less than one week ago, another shooting resulted in the death of a young woman less than one mile away.
"I fear for the children," said Brandon. "I cry every night and pray that my kids have something better to look forward to."
By 5 p.m., police said the scene was safe, though there was still a heavy police presence in the neighborhood.
Police have interviewed witnesses and "persons of interest," though no arrests have been made, according to Dearcop.
