Gettysburg Hero Paddy O’Rorke Honored in Rochester

Rochester, N.Y. - A century and a half after a local civil war hero died in battle, Rochester residents honored Paddy O'Rorke.
 
Colonel O'Rorke led his brigade in battle at Gettysburg. The Rochester native was killed in the attack.

Tuesday, a local group remembered the sacrifice he made with a remembrance ceremony on Lake Avenue which included bagpipe music.
 
O'Rorke, who emigrated with his family from Ireland, graduated at the top in his class at West Point. The brigade he led at Gettysburg was made up of volunteers mostly from Rochester.
