Father of car crash victim: Prayers, traffic signs needed

Wheatland, N.Y. - The father of one of the car crash victims seriously injured Tuesday is asking for prayers and more traffic signs for the intersection where the accident took place.

Mike Murphy's daughter Michaela is one of three people in guarded condition. He came to the intersection of Riga Mumford Road and North Road looking for Michaela's purse and cell phone Wednesday.

He said his daughter came out of surgery Wednesday morning and has another one scheduled for Friday.

Murphy said his daughter is lucid and is able to remember a lot of what happened Tuesday.

He said Michaela, Emily Peterson, and Joanne Kruchten need prayers - and he would like someone to address the intersection.

"All three of them need prayers. If anybody has some extra time they should say a prayer," said Murphy. "I think if people want to do something, get a traffic light here. Go back to the D.O.T. and find out how many people died at this intersection."

"Is this enough or not? Every year there is a body here or two at this intersection. Why not have a stop sign at all four corners or a traffic light?

Taylor Binnert, 21 and Chris Peterson, 20, were killled in the accident. Flowers could be seen laying near the scene of the crash Wednesday.
