Gillibrand fights military on sex assault cases

Washington (AP) - Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pressing to strip commanders of the authority to make decisions in military sexual assault cases.

She says they should not have the power to decide whether or not to prosecute military sexual assault cases.

Gillibrand's proposal giving that authority to military lawyers is part of a defense policy bill expected to get a vote later this summer.
