Staub: Northampton Park work could begin Monday
Ogden, N.Y.--Neither a legal challenge, nor a six-hour meeting could stop efforts to move the Monroe County Fair from Henrietta to Ogden.
Construction work could begin at the new fair site as early as Monday, according to county parks director Larry Staub.
"You can put a world-class festival together in short order if you know what you're doing," said Staub.
A group of concerned citizens filed a lawsuit against Monroe County and the group that owns the fair, the Monroe County Fair and Recreation Association, in efforts to stop the fair's move from Henrietta to Ogden.
Last week, Supreme Court Justice Thomas Stander dismissed the lawsuit from a concerned citizens group. The group has pledged to appeal the decision.
The notice of appeal could be filed by Monday, according to Dennis Kindred, one of the plaintiffs.
"We are confident we are going to win that," said Kindred.
