NY AG: $20 million available to fix vacant properties

Albany, N.Y. - New York's Attorney General announced a new process to apply for funding to rebuild and restore vacant and abandoned properties affected by the housing crisis.

Eric Schneiderman announced Monday there will be $20 million in funding for land banks authorized under the Land Bank Act of 2011.

Applications must be sent in by September 15. Funding decisions for the first round will be announced in mid-October.

The number of vacant properties in New York State increased 27% from 2000 to 2010.
