Hot Day: It's Unbearable

Henrietta, N.Y.— 90-degree weather is nothing new for Larry Hermance. His construction crew is used to paving roads in conditions that resemble a boiling pot.

“It’s unbearable, really, said Hermance.” “You got to get used to it, that’s all.” With an empty water bottle capping a construction cone, it’s clear that his workers have been hydrating as much as they can.

“You tend to lose a lot of weight while you’re out here, you stay busy, but it’s a great job,” said Raul Carrasquillo.

By mid-day, temperatures had reached 89-degrees, according to 13WHAM Meterologist Marty Snyder.

“I’ve been drinking a lot of water,” said Ron Smith, a parishioner at Saint Anne’s Church in Rochester. “At 70-years old, I have to pace myself.”

Smith is building a memorial for veterans outside of the church and hopes to finish the project by Wednesday.
