Mail handler admits $128,000 in thefts

Rochester, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say Rochester man admitted stealing more than $100,000 in valuables while working as a U.S. Postal Service mail handler.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. says Jeremy Lieberman, 34, worked in the Rochester Logistics and Distribution Center, where he stole $128,000 in diamonds, coins, gold, jewelry and other items between January and May.

Hochul said the Rochester man pleaded guilty Tuesday to theft while working as a postal employee.

He faces a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing is set for December 4.
