Tax breaks approved for Costco

Rochester, N.Y- The County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency approved $3.5 million in tax incentives Tuesday for the proposed Costco project at the Citygate site in Rochester.

Costco is proposing to build a 150,000 square foot store in the CityGate Development located at the southeast corner of the intersection of East Henrietta Road and Westfall Road.

The property is currently owned by Monroe County.

The $30 million project is projected to create 225 jobs over the next three years.

Costco Wholesale Corporation was founded in Seattle in 1983.

It is a membership-only warehouse club that provides a wide selection of merchandise. Its the largest membership warehouse club chain in the United States and a large retailer of fine wine.
