One arrest for two separate homicides

Rochester, N.Y. -- Investigators say they have arrested the man behind two separate homicide cases in Rochester.

RPD officials say Michael Walton, 22, has been arrested for the murder of Shamelle Warren on August 3, and the murder of Cesar Ostolaza on December 1, 2009.

On August 3, Rochester Police responded to Fernwood Avenue for a shooting. Investigators say the murder victim, Warren, was shot in the upper torso.

Back on December 1, 2009, Rochester Police responded to 295 Central Park after receiving a report that three people were shot.

They found Ostolaza lying on the ground inside the building. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were also shot, but they survived.

The investigation showed that the victims were in the parking lot on the south side of the building when they were approached by two or three unknown males. The suspects opened fire, and then fled the scene.

Rochester Police are having a news conference on Tuesday afternoon to explain more details in connection with Waltons arrest.

Walton was in New York State prison from 2010 until 2012 for a criminal possession of a weapon charge. He is on parole for that crime through next month.

RPD says they worked with New York State Parole, Monroe County DAs Office and the Monroe Crime Analysis Center on these investigations which lead to the arrest.
