Rural Metro adds 5 new ambulances

Rochester, N.Y. Rural/Metro Medical Services, which provides the City of Rochester with medical transportation services, has acquired five new wheeled coach Chevy ambulances.

Rural/Metros fleet now stands at 45, 25 of which are staffed daily.

The new ambulances boast LED lighting, more cab space, built-in car seats, and an on-board refrigerator for chilled medications.

Each ambulance costs around $100,000.

This increase in fleet size will allow us to handle spikes in emergency calls, much like what occurred on July 17 of this year. Our crews covered 218 transports in one day, breaking our previous record for daily transports, said LaShay Harris, Public Information Officer.
