Controversial Rolling Stone issue sales skyrocket
(CNN) - Rolling Stone's controversial decision to put Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on its cover has done wonders for sales.
Since going on sale on July 19, the issue has sold more than double the average sales in 2012.
The cover sparked outrage from some who criticized rolling stone for being insensitive. Several drugstore and supermarket chains boycotted the issue, including Wegmans, CVS, Walgreens and 7-Eleven.
Rolling Stone stands by the cover story, saying it falls within the magazine's "commitment to serious and thoughtful coverage."
