Father of man accused of killing son speaks out
Rochester, N.Y. - Maurice "Chris" Faison is in jail, accused of killing his own infant son. Faisons son, nine-month-old Tristen, was found unresponsive by his mother in his crib on September 3rd.
The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Rochester Police arrest and charged Faison with 2nd degree murder on September 13th.
Faisons father and Tristens grandfather tells 13WHAM he believes theres more to the story of how his grandson died and hes looking for the truth.
There's got to be something else involved here other than what's going on, said Tony Faison, Maurice Chris Faisons father.
Tony acknowledges this isn't his son's first run-in with the law.
He's got a rap sheet as long as your arm, there's not an issue with that at all and I'm telling you that up front, said Tony.
Tony has been dealing with his son's troubled behavior for years and he knows how he acts when he's in trouble.
Tony said his son acted out of character when Tristen was killed.
That made him start questioning the story that was out there.
That's the main thing right there, that he went to the neighbors and was crying his heart out and wanted everybody to feel sorry for him, said Tony, [he] never, never, never, never, does that.
Tony believes Tristen's mother, Samantha Stavalone, knows more than she's told police.
I'm not trying to pretend that he's innocent, said Tony. I'll never do that because I know him too well. I just want for anybody to get a hold of Samantha and bring her down and interview her.
Faison just wants the truth about what happened to his only grandchild to come out.
I want to make sure my grandson has justice where due, and I want to make sure that's clarified, said Tony. Get my son off the hook if he's on the hook, and if he's not he's got to go down with everybody else, just like the law says.
Maurice "Chris" Faison pled not guilty to second degree murder.
