Preventing student violence at the Liberty Pole

Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester City School District students will start seeing changes this week as school leaders work to prevent large brawls and violence downtown.

Superintendent Bolgen Vargas said he's talked to Rochester police about how to deal with fights like Monday's fracas at the Liberty Pole.

A shot was fired then, but no one was hit.

After previous problems at the Liberty Pole the school district limited the amount of students who transferred buses at the downtown location.

However, Vargas said transportation isn't the problem.  It's the students' bad behavior.

The district has not specified exactly what changes will be made.
