U of R plans for new medical building
Brighton, N.Y. - The University Rochester Medical Center wants to build a new imaging and autism center in Brighton.
An application for the the $28.4 million proposal was sent to the New York State Department of Health, the facility announced on Wednesday.
If approved, the three-story building would be built along Brighton's East River Road near Interstate 390.
The facility would be used to relocate outpatient imaging and some pediatric outpatient care, including a new autism center.
"This plan addresses our urgent need for appropriate, accessible space for imaging services. Not only do today's technologies require more room, we're also focused on the comfort and privacy of our patients and families," said URMC CEO Bradford C. Berk, M.D., Ph.D. "Plus, this new building will be in a less congested area near the Medical Center and close to the expressway."
If the state and the town of Brighton approve the plan, the construction could be complete in 2015.
