Dog dies after being left in car at the State Fair

Syracuse, N.Y. - A Massena man was arrested after allegedly leaving his dog in a hot car while he attended the state fair.

Members of the New York State Police responded to the Red Cross Parking Lot at the New York State Fairgrounds shortly after 2 p.m. Monday for a dog seizing.

The owner of the two-year-old Labrador Retriever, Patrick Oneill, was standing over the dog when the troopers arrived. They attempted to cool down the dog with water and ice, but the dog died at the scene.

Oneill, 66, was arrested and charged with the Agricultural and Markets Law.

The police investigation revealed that Oneill allegedly left the dog in the vehicle for four hours while he attended the fair.
